Since 2009, Formento-Formento have been producing a major photographic series representing the degradation of American women. In these portraits the fragility and increasing poverty of women are shown, owing to the subprimes scandal that sparked the US financial crisis of 2007. They are endowed with a great flair for composition and lighting, a skill that might recall the art of Vermeer or Hopper. Like these artists, they treat subjects as fundamental as the passage of time, or solitude. In so doing, they traverse various periods in time as though to better return to the immediate present. ...
