Echappée belle du petit Gérard et de M. Hulot
This image represents one of the legendary scenes from Mon Oncle where the viewer discovers the touching complicity between little Gérard and his uncle, Mr. Hulot. The two of them cross the Old Saint-Maur-des-Fossés district in Solex, leaving the Arpels' (too) modern house to join that of vacant lots, jokes between friends and fatty and sweet donuts. The film contrasts two images of the post-war city, a picturesque and traditional universe with another, modern and sanitized, where Mr. Hulot's fantasy does not find its place. ...
