Grand Prix Photo is the name of the studio created by Danish photographer Peter Nygaard in 1982. Passionate about cars and Formula 1, Peter Nygaard travelled to the Grands Prix once he graduated from the law faculty of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Thirty-three years later, he has as many Formula 1 seasons under his belt and can pride himself on having covered more than five hundred Grand Prix! “It’s the history that makes Formula 1 unique,” he explains. “Other categories can have faster or (sometimes!) more interesting cars, but only Formula 1 has been in existence for 65 years. It’s quite fascinating to realise that Fernando Alonso is racing on the same circuits as Jim Clark in the 1960s.” By acquiring the photos by his colleagues Nigel Snowdon and Giancarlo Cevenini, also specialising in F1, with Grand Prix Photo, Peter Nygaard has constituted a unique collection worldwide.
