MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DELIVERY

The artist

For over 20 years, Philip Lee Harvey has delighted us with images of his travels undertaken in the farthest reaches of the world. These captivating images focus on landscapes and on the souls of the people he meets, from the glacial regions of the Antarctic to the Sahara desert. Born in 1969 in Canterbury, England, Philip Lee Harvey obtained a degree in graphic design at the Norwich School of Art and Design, later assisting some of the most prominent advertising photographers in the United Kingdom after graduation. Keen to develop his own portfolio, he soon launched his career as an independent photographer, responding to numerous editorial and advertising assignments. Since then, the photographer has worked in 120 countries, explored environments that are as intense as they are surprising and captured hundreds of photographs, some of which have won prestigious awards such as Travel Photographer of the Year 2014, or at the International Colour Awards and the World's Best Photographers Awards.  ... About the artwork

A great fan of Asia, Philip Lee Harvey never tires of exploring the historic treasures that this continent contains. However, the photographic reports that he produces are not mere invitations to travel; they also encourage us to meditate on the fragile beauty of our environment, whether it be human, natural or cultural. The image Kerala Sunrise, taken in 2011, was commissioned by Lonely Planet to illustrate one of their renowned guidebooks, on Kerala. It is a calm and prosperous region in southern India, spared of the frenetic pace that is the norm elsewhere in the country, and whose natural characteristic consists of backwaters, a series of lagoons and lakes. The photographer captures a houseboat off the coast, surrounded by sparse vegetation, all wreathed in the golden glow of early morning.
