MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DELIVERY

The artist

Guadalupe Laiz has practised photography since she was very young. This passion has accompanied her as far as the United States where she decided to move, to the heart of New York, following her studies in the arts. Trained at the Colorado Mountain College then the Art Institute of Denver, she launched her professional career in 2013 as soon as she had her photography diploma in hand. The young woman was born in 1980 in Mar del Plata in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although she mainly produced fashion imagery in the beginning, Guadalupe Laiz was also able to develop personal projects such as Faces of Aspen for which she made individual portraits of the inhabitants of this small ski station in Colorado. She was awarded the College Photographer of the Year in 2012. Her images have been presented on a number of occasions, notably at the Thomas Duncan Gallery in Los Angeles.  ... See more See less

About the artwork

Whether it be the façade of the Centre Pompidou, the entrance to the Arts et Métiers metro station or the bustling esplanade of the Eiffel Tower, Guadalupe Laiz roams the landscapes of France and Europe in search of locations that have not yet been captured by her lens. For the ?Travel? series, she frequented each tourist site and constantly retraced her steps in order to take photos at different hours of the day and obtain a scrambled effect through contrasting colours and lighting. The artist makes very little use of retouching software. This blurred effect is therefore produced by manually juxtaposing the shots that were taken within an interval of a few hours, or by slightly shifting her camera?s tripod for each shooting session. The vibrations that punctuate the photographs give an impression of frenzy that stems from the density of population and activities in the urban area.

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...

THIBAUD POIRIER

Born to expatriate parents, Thibaud Poirier spent his childhood in many cities around the globe, but out of Houston, Montreal, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo, it was the latter that has influenced him the most: “I discovered architecture there, in particular by Tadao Ando, and it became...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...
