The artist

... About the artwork

Breton photographer Jules Valentin pursues his exploration of marine photography. His creations are tributes to the sea, whether in the chaos of a storm or in calm seas. In the series entitled Chaotic Atlantic, the liquid element appears to have solidified, with waves captured in full zoom almost resembling mountains. By contrast, the series Marine Waves presents calm seas in black-and-white, but they are not necessarily reassuring.

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...

THIBAUD POIRIER

Born to expatriate parents, Thibaud Poirier spent his childhood in many cities around the globe, but out of Houston, Montreal, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo, it was the latter that has influenced him the most: “I discovered architecture there, in particular by Tadao Ando, and it became...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...
