On a recent trip to China, notably in the south of Guilin, Daniel Metz became enamoured with the region's landscapes, comprising thousands of small mountains, in an otherwise industrial and highly urbanised area. Based on his background as a theorist of colour, the subject of many publications, he makes it a point of honour to showcase this aspect as an essential element of imagery. In his works, the juxtaposition and contrast of colours effectively enable forms to be revealed and accentuate the depth of the landscape.
