Born in Barrackpore, a large city located in the metropolitan area of Calcutta, Pranab Basak is a telecommunications engineer by trade, and a photographer by passion. Fascinated by people and a keen traveller, he taught himself the tricks of the eighth art and became an overnight success. Several years were all it took for him to win no less than 150 prestigious national and international awards, including the ones delivered by: the Olympus Global Open Photo Contest 2015 (Japan), the UNESCO New Delhi Photo Contest (India), the IREX International Grand Award (USA), Maison Chance Photo Contest (Vietnam), Cyberlink Photo Contest (Taiwan), and the DMZ Peace and Environment Photo Contest 2020 (Korea).
