Bernarda C. Nibera was born in 1992 in Slovenia. She has been taking photographs for more than twenty-five years, having received her first film camera at the age of eight, and went on to study textile and fashion design, followed by visual communication, in Ljubljana. Her practice today combines film photography and digital collage to create imaginary landscapes that explore humanity’s relationship with the environment. “Nature is my mentor and my muse,” she says. Each image begins with a 35mm shot; after the negatives are developed and digitized, several photographs are assembled into a single composition, with the film’s grain and color variations deliberately preserved. “If the Earth could dream, would it remember itself this way?” the artist asks. Her work has been exhibited in Europe, North America, and Australia, and she received international recognition from the International Photography Awards and the AS International Film Photography Awards in 2023. In 2025, Adobe Photoshop invited her to be the featured artist in its global “Synesthesia Experiments” campaign.
