About the artwork

The ?Sound of Jura? series was produced in 2010. It depicts the stretch of sea separating the Isle of Jura, part of the Hebrides, and Scotland. The Gaelic name of this strait is ?An Linne Rosach? that means ?Sound of disappointment.? It is reached by ferry from the neighbouring island Islay or by plane from Glasgow. Remote and difficult to access, the island attracted the British writer George Orwell who completed his novel ?1984? there.
