MATTHIAS HAKER

About the artwork

“I’ve always been intrigued by abandoned buildings,” says German photographer Matthias Haker. Taken between 2019 and 2020, this timeless series transports the spectator into sites that have been abandoned for many years. A hundred-year-old theatre, a synagogue, the bathroom and living room of a European manor… Nature reclaims its stake in these places lost in time. The eminently stylised rendering pays tribute to their history.
