About the artwork

Settled in Barcelona for a few years now, Patrick Schüttler grew up on the Australian coast. After working in colour and glamourising the sunsets over the Indian Ocean, he offers here a unique vision of the Pyrenees and the Catalan coast in black and white, playing with light and nuances to create a unique atmosphere.

The artist

Patrick Schüttler was born in Germany but grew up in Perth, Australia near the Indian Ocean. A region of the world where the culture of sand, surfing, and sunsets is second nature. He started learning about photography with his father at the age of 12 and rapidly made this passion into a career. He traveled the world then returned to Perth where his talent was able to express itself completely through his photos of beaches and the sun setting over the ocean. In 2009, he moved to London and worked in the worlds of advertising, fashion, tourism, and architecture. Ten years later, the call of the sea was too strong, and he moved again, to Barcelona this time, where today he continues his career splitting his time between work for clients and personal adventures all over the world.  ... “The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
