About the artwork

This motif is part of a larger series: forces of nature. My goal was to document the power as well as the beauty of nature's power and the water is the central theme. Both in frozen form as glacial ice or liquid as a mountain stream that cascades over numerous waterfalls on its way to the sea. This waterfall is right next to Kjenndalsbreen glacier in the municipality of Stryn in Vestland, Norway. The glacier has a size of 19-square-kilometre and is a side branch of the Jostedalsbreen glacier (Jostedal Glacier), the largest glacier in continental Europe. It is located in the north of the province of Vestland, north of the Sognefjord, and is about 40 km long and about 15 km wide. The ice layer is up to 500 m thick. In 2006 the area was 474 km².
