Having traveled the United States aboard their camper van, the atypical photographer couple Formento + Formento continues with the series Circumstance - America Down on Bruised Knees, featuring American women they meet on their route. Each of their photographs denounces an omnipresent tension beyond the simple frame of the image, as if it were a suspenseful thriller noir. In these recent photos taken in Miami and dating from 2016, the artists pay homage to the cinematography of Alfred Hitchcock, to the self-portraits embodied by the feminist Cindy Sherman or even to the realistic paintings of the painter Edward Hopper.
