About the artwork

This photograph was taken in November 2012, in the height of the Belarusian winter, on the banks of the Minsk. German artist Andreiko created a mystical site there: Andracula Castle, a space that gives free reign to the ideas and creations of local artists. It consists of a maze of exhibition rooms, torture chambers, and this fabulous dungeon that symbolises the teeth of an imaginary monster dominating the Belarusian countryside. Jean-Baptiste Fort had his model pose there, carrying the Communist flag and wearing a dress made by hand by a Belarusian designer. At the time of shooting, the outside temperature was below zero and the cold is even expressed in the model?s face.
