About the artwork

When Nicolas Guérin, notably famous for his portraits of stars, entrusts his photos to K, an artist and fan of “nocturnal craft”, the result is dynamite. K subverts portraits, adding lines with markers, paints, or felt-tip pens. Here, she adds a frame, there, she underlines the contours in felt-tip pen or adds colour over the black and white, not hesitating to mask the model’s face. In the end, the photos are heightened and take on a new dimension.

The artist

K is a passionate French artist, a fan of crafting carefully sourced photographs by night. The photographs of Nicolas Guérin are revisited here by K, complete with plays of texture using paint, marker pens, felt pens, cut-outs… that are then photocopied. An original collaboration. When Nicolas Guerin entrusts his photos to K, the results are stunning. K subverts portraits, adding lines with markers, paints, or felt-tip pens. Here, she adds a frame, there, she underlines the contours in felt-tip pen or adds colour over the black and white, not hesitating to mask the model’s face. In the end, the photos are heightened and take on a new dimension.  ... See more See less

CLAUDE DEGOUTTE

“The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
