About the artwork

Burma, 2014. Every morning, Inle Lake is the scene of a remarkable spectacle. Balancing on the sterns of their canoes, dozens of lone fishermen row with one leg and use both hands to fish with their nets. Their incredible dexterity did not escape the eye of French photographer Arnaud Vilaseca. From the shore, he immortalised the scene at sunrise.

The artist

Born in Pau in 1985, Arnaud Vilaseca is an engineer by training. Between his studies and his first professional experiences, this travel enthusiast had already resided in Australia, Canada, China, New Zealand, and Singapore. In 2014, he decreed that he had not seen enough. His thirst for discovery led him to make a bold decision: to travel the world for a year with his camera as his sole companion. From the very first days, a great love story was in sight. From country to country, he built up his raw and aesthetically pleasing style.
