About the artwork

In this series dedicated to Dinky Toys – a brand of miniature autos which the children of the 1950s to 1970s were mad about – Emmanuel Georges goes back in time to pay tribute to these time-worn trophies. Among his finds, there is the Sunbeam Alpine, a two-seater roadster specially developed for rally driving. It received its definitive name – Alpine – in the early 1950s, after the success of the automotive brand at alpine rallies.

Anecdote

The Sunbeam Alpine was launched as early as 1953, however, it was not until its appearance in Alfred Hitchcok's film 'The Hand in the Nose' that its moment of glory arrived.
