About the artwork

The two animals are integrated to the nature partially, a friendship or love sometimes can be quite short but in another way it can be contemporary to them.Sensitive to the environment that he grew up in, Shankun Wu remembers the Chinese paintings and traditional calendars full of images that his grandparents collected. Both decorative and symbolic, these objects made a strong impression on his visual imagination, from which he now sources one of his main wellsprings of inspirations, not without a sense of nostalgia. He considers photography to be a kind of mental journal enabling him to represent parts of his inner, abstract world and to cause certain concerns to resurface that were once hidden within his subconscious: ?Since our memory is very fragile, no one can remember exactly what happened in the past. Bringing back memories is therefore more like re-imagining the past. Just as trees can link the past with the present, and represent life and eternity, I would like my photographs to be able to provide a sense of eternity.?
