About the artwork

From Milan to New York to Dubai, Daniele Tacchinardi photographs cities without skies, immersed within a vertical modernity, without the slightest natural element that might allow observers to catch their breath. The landscape he confronts only exists through architecture and the multitude of anonymous windows that fill the smooth surface of the photographic paper. Through saturated shots, the Italian artist represents a contemporary world that is collapsing so quickly that he can only catch it by freezing it in a way that simultaneously amplifies its fall. Entitled Public Housing, the Future, this photograph was created in 2016 opposite a tentacular architectural complex in Italy. It belongs to the series Impressioni Urbane begun in 2011 in New York and anchors the spectator within a stifling and oppressive reality.
