Unbold Studio Bio Behind the name Unbold Studio, we find two artists who have brought their worlds together to foster a new one: Gilles Monsel and François Richelle, both graphic designers. Children of the early eighties, they were at the crossroads between the end of the analogical era, in which they were immersed in their youth, and the emergence of digital tools, which they have now embraced. This dual culture, typical of this generation known as “Xennials”, has forged their artistic approach. “We devise compositions like brief moments that highlight the poetry of the ordinary and the importance of what’s not in the frame,” explain the two artists. They willingly cite painter and photographer Gerhard Richter, who said: “Perhaps I ultimately use blurring effects to mask excesses of non-essential information.” First used to accompany studio commissions for the many musicians that they accompany, these images gradually took on a kind of artistic autonomy: today, for Gilles Monsel and François Richelle, they have become “true sources of inspiration and creation”.
