About the artwork

Benares is the largest town in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The city in its entirety is situated on the left bank of the Ganges, facing the rising sun. The right bank, opposite, has no buildings at all. This town, founded in the VIIth century BC, is dedicated to Shiva and diligently visited by Sadhus and pilgrims from many countries. The town is also very famous for its ghats. These banks covered with stone steps allow river access to carry out ritual ablutions.Sitting in a lotus position on one of these ghats, facing the sun rising over the Ganges, an old man is meditating. Behind him, the old stone city is bathed in the warm tones of the natural light and majestically borders the river.

I am deeply committed to humanity and to this desire to transmit what is beautiful and good in humanity.
