Born in Vietnam, Jade Mai lives and works in Singapore as a fashion photographer. She is a graduate of the LASALLE College of the Arts since 2011, where she studied the media and fashion industries. Her work already demonstrates great maturity, based on a profound consideration of the world of images and advertising. She thus considers it problematic that the media by and large represents the image of fashion through portraits of idealised and glamorous models, with the sole aim of selling clothes. The artist, who is interested in the meaning of her photographs, deliberately integrates a philosophical and psychological character within them, creating works that not only generate fascination but also thought, by conveying new ides. Her photographs are attached to this stance and associate fiction and reality in a singular way, revealing unexpected points of view, in creative and original ways.
