About the artwork

Based between Paris and Los Angeles, the photographer Serge Ramelli affirms true admiration for cinematographic renderings. Passionate about the atmospheres of successful films such as Jean-Pierre Jeunet?s Amélie, Luc Besson?s Angela or Ridley Scott?s Gladiator, he focuses on the effects of lighting, framings and atmospheres that give rise to the most intense emotions in the spectator. The magic of the big screen adapts to images of South American landscapes. The munificent Hotel Mexico, the lighting of the park in Palace seen from the sky or the abandoned site of The Sun Pyramid are the photographer?s first colour photographs to enter the YellowKorner collection. The angles of coverage are widened as though they have been photographed with a similar distance to an aerial image, the formats are enlarged to include sumptuous settings and, above all, retouches using Lightroom allow the colours to be sublimated with respect to the original shots.

The artist

Passionate about images since a young age, Serge Ramelli decided to devote his career to it in 2005. He thus soon became a professional photographer and cinema producer. His creative and inquiring mind leads him to constantly explore new techniques, both photographically and digitally, in order to better recreate the grandeur of urban landscapes. He multiplies experiments in the field of photography and also successfully teaches various methods of mastering photography such as composition, materials, or retouching, via educational tutorials. These digital guides are designed for amateurs and professionals of the 8th art who wish to learn how to use creative digital tools such as Lightroom or HDR (High Dynamic Range), which allow powerful, contrasted, and dramatic images to be obtained.  ... “I have been passionate about images and cinema for a very long time. I was on holiday with a graphic designer friend who taught me the basics of photo retouching. It was a real revelation for me.”
