About the artwork

In December 2019, after a long journey in East Africa, American photographer Rodney Bursiel ended his trip in the Omo Valley in Ethiopia. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Omo Valley is populated by semi-nomadic tribes, including the Hamar people. The photographer set out to meet them, on a constant search for beauty, immortalising their acute aesthetic flair. In front of their home, two Hamar women present their jewellery, dreadlocks, and traditional clothing.

The artist

The life of Rodney Bursiel is a true adventure tale. His thirst for life leads him to the four corners of the globe. From Los Angeles studio sets to the deep sea of the Fijian islands, this passionate photographer lives life at a break-neck pace! After graduation, he made a name for himself in the film industry. He appeared alongside Kevin Costner in Tin Cup, played opposite Angelina Jolie in True Women, and even worked as a stuntman on Pearl Harbor. Despite the pleasure he finds in reinventing himself in front of the camera, Rodney Bursiel ended his career in film and returned to his first love: photography. This time he holds the camera, to illustrate all the beauty of the world. His primary inspiration is nature and his greatest passion is the wildlife it supports. His goal? To share the beauty of the world with the widest possible audience and inspire its preservation.  ... See more See less
