About the artwork

In the series “Ambient Metropolis Light”, photographer Alexey Kozhenkov portrays Hong Kong’s breakneck growth in the 1980s. The futurist buildings from that period now appear like guardians of the past in a city that symbolizes modernity. When he took the photos in 2018, the young artist describes having been transported back to the 80s, an era he only knows through books and television.

The artist

Alexey Kozhenkov was raised in Riga, Latvia. From his childhood, he felt the need to preserve the beauty he saw around him. Traveling, walks and urban exploration were good excuses for him to use his camera. After graduating from university, his passion for the 8th art only grew, and never left him. Now based in Moscow, Alexey Kozhenkov earns his livelihood from his art. Passionate about modern architecture, he finds beauty in geometric forms and quickly specialized in photographing cityscapes. In this way, he shares his poetic vision of a geometric world with the public. His passion for travel takes him to every corner of the globe to see the most unusual buildings. To these, he adds his own personal touch, at the same time lyrical and kinetic.  ... See more See less
