About the artwork

Although the first instant camera was marketed in 1948 in the United States, Andrea Ehrenreich became aware of it only in 1990, when the Velvet Revolution opened the Czechoslovakian borders. After moving to Vienna several years later, she visited an exhibition dedicated to the Polaroid and became passionate about this photographic format which she immediately experimented with using the 600 then the SK-70 models. ?Donaucity?, which she created using this medium, is in fact a mosaic made up of 25 Polaroids layered onto a single backing. Her ?canvas? or ?collage?, as she likes to call it, is a graphic game juxtaposing different points of view and multiple tonalities. Andrea Ehrenreich leads us towards the unknown, in a whimsical world that liberates itself from the limits of instant photography, in order to show us her vision of Donau City, a business neighbourhood in Vienna.
