About the artwork

Capturing heavenly beaches and legendary views such as the one in Cloud Surfers , Australian photographer Richard Hirst never tires of painting a complete portrait of the city of Sydney and its surrounds. ? I?ve travelled a lot, all over the world, but Sydney is still one of my favourite subjects because it is made up of a wonderful mix of nature and artificial structures ,? he affirms. The photographer creates images throughout the day by focusing on the influence of the light, which offers him a new and continually evolving landscape, as though he was discovering it for the very first time. Richard Hirst thus captures surfers training on a spectacular and perfectly formed wave in the Pacific Ocean. An air of happiness very naturally emanates from the artist?s emblematic images, who reigns supreme when it comes to aerial photography.

CLAUDE DEGOUTTE

“The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
