About the artwork

Capturing heavenly beaches and legendary views such as the one in Paradise, Australian photographer Richard Hirst never tires of painting a complete portrait of the city of Sydney and its surrounds. “I’ve travelled a lot, all over the world, but Sydney is still one of my favourite subjects because it is made up of a wonderful mix of nature and artificial structures,” he affirms. The photographer creates images throughout the day by focusing on the influence of the light, which offers him a new and continually evolving landscape, as though he was discovering it for the very first time. The turquoise colour of the Pacific Ocean is intensified through his lens, revealing, through its beautiful crystalline hue, an amazing terrestrial paradise. An air of happiness very naturally emanates from the artist’s emblematic images, who reigns supreme when it comes to aerial photography.

I've traveled a lot around the world, but Sydney is a favorite subject for me because it's a beautiful mix of nature and artificial structures.
