The artist

Born in 1970 in Medina del Campo in the Northwest of Spain, photographer Miguel Valinas Prieto has produced images for industry, television and advertising for over 20 years. He trained at the School of Photography and Cinema (EFTI) in Madrid, where he still lives today. Alongside his commercial activity, Miguel Valinas Prieto develops personal artistic projects that have earned him the merit of exhibiting in Hispanic galleries but also abroad and namely for the international Affordable Art Fair. He recently presented “Segunda Pieles” in London then Hong Kong.In addition, his work is widely published in the specialised press such as Vogue, Vanity Fair or The Guardian.An accomplished artist, he finds inspiration in all kinds of subjects, whether contemporary architecture, urban landscapes or portraits.  ... About the artwork

After Pieles [Skins], in which Miguel Vallinas staged himself exercising various professions or mastering a number of ancestral traditions, came Segunda Pieles [Second Skins] in which taxidermied animals took the place of individuals, sporting sophisticated styles of dress. The third and final body of images Ceci n?est pas [This Is Not] completes the Spanish photographer?s series. It is a logical extension of the artist?s previous work, in which he seeks to deconstruct human identities. The images are surreal, revealing a physical separation between the models? bodies and heads, which are replaced by inanimate objects representing our thoughts, determination, and desires.
