About the artwork

Specialising in female nudes, Alex Manchev created The Freedom Project series. He chose to organise the shoots in the private environment of one of his models in order to give his compositions a natural look. Free to express their personality and liberated of all social constraints, the women appear sensual, but also and above all, superior.

The artist

Women are a source of inexhaustible inspiration for photographer Alex Manchev. Born in Bulgaria, his love for photography was revealed at the age of 19. Several years later, aged 25, his talent led him to embark on a career as a professional photographer in the fashion industry. Finally, his ambition led him to return to study, to develop further knowledge about his new profession: photography. Armed with his Masters in Photography, Manchev abandoned commercial practice to devote himself to his art. Specialising in female nudes, he captures the extravagance, raw beauty, and freedom that the bodies inspire in him. His non-digital photos in black-and-white offer some heart-wrenchingly melancholic results.  ... See more See less
