The artist

Guillaume Gaudet is a commercial and editorial photographer based in New York. He developed a taste for travel and discovering new cultures from his childhood, which he spent living in several different countries, including Spain, Argentina, and Germany. After a career in public relations in Paris, he moved to New York in 2007. As soon as he arrived, he fell in love with this bustling city. He has always been passionate about photography and the urban landscape and melting pot atmosphere of the Big Apple has become an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him. Through a particular lighting, architecture or slice of life, he strives to capture in each of his photos a little piece of the soul of the city and its energy.  ... See more See less

“Through a particular light, a building, or a scene from daily life, the need to capture a little piece of the soul of the city and its energy is ever present.”

About the artwork

« When you go to the centre of Times Square for the first time, you are overwhelmed by an explosion of colours, advertisements, luminescent screens as well as a constant flood of vehicles and people. The crossroads of Broadway and Seventh Avenue has been quite rightly nicknamed the 'Crossroads of the World'. In contrast to some photographs, taken with a wide angled lens to bring out the excessive size of the location, I have favoured close - up shots, to closely express the unique sensations that are felt when crossing the Broadway crossroads on foot. In this incessant turmoil, my attention was drawn to the taxi driver’s gaze through the window, drowned by the reflections of the neon lights from the advertisements. » GG
