MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DELIVERY

The artist

Elena Iv-skaya started her photographic journey in 2013 in Réunion island where she moved one year before from her home in Russia. Always passionate about art and having worked as a model in her younger years, Elena found natural expression of her talent in fashion and beauty photography, doing the styling, set design and very often hair and make-up by herself. Very quickly she started working for reputable French brands of accessories and internationally published magazines. Her photographic style is marked by the passion for highly aesthetic, strong and elegant imagery. She is portraying femininity with a simple yet creative and powerful approach.  ... “My inspiration comes from very different sources. Very often, I look at everyday objects and imagine how I can use them to construct an image.”

ELENA IV-SKAYA

About the artwork

Elena Iv-Skaya was commissioned by a Parisian gallery to create this photo for a Star Wars exhibition. It depicts a princess styled with two macaroons on either side of her head, characteristic of Princess Leia, eating French fries on her throne. She eats without disgust, but not with gusto either. The composition and the model’s distant attitude leave no room for doubt as to the ironic gaze that the photographer applies to the Star Wars phenomenon.
