About the artwork

In each of his photographs, Arthur Farache Sauvegrain retranscribes the magic that he discovers when he visits a country. Myanmar as he presents it seems frozen in time, cut off from the world and from technological progress. ?The last Sunset from U-Bein Bridge? represents the teak bridge located over Lake Taungthaman in Amarapura in the centre of the country (Mandalay region). Traversing the lake for over 1.2 km, it is considered to be the longest wooden bridge in all of Southeast Asia. ?Asia has this knack of plunging you into an almost mystical world - through its light and the colours it offers through the diversity of its nature. The scents that you have with the cuisine and spices reinforce this intense sense of unfamiliarity. Here, the expression, gazes and traditional clothing awakens feelings that give us another view of the world. All of this makes Asia a unique place. I found it to be inspirational. It was there that for me, photography recovers its special character: it immortalises the emotions it provokes to then share them again and again, infinitely.?
