The artist

Born in Paris in 1977, Arthur Farache Sauvegrain left for Thailand after graduating as a journalist, which opened the doors of audiovisual production companies to him. This initial experience outside of France gave him the taste and passion for photography, as well as for travel and discovering the peoples of Southeast Asia, whom he met during his ten-year expatriation. Thirsty for adventure, he then headed for new, equally exotic destinations. From Laos to Cambodia, via Vietnam and Myanmar, Arthur Farache Sauvegrain has explored this continent in all its splendour. Working two jobs at once with his lens, the photographer now shares his time between Asian journeys for which he has produced assignments and Europe, where he works as a set photographer on film shoots.  ... About the artwork

In each of his photographs, Arthur Farache Sauvegrain retranscribes the magic that he discovers when he visits a country. Myanmar as he presents it seems frozen in time, cut off from the world and from technological progress. ?Lake Palace? represents a temple in the form of a pirogue on the royal land of Yangon, the country?s economic capital. ?Asia has this knack of plunging you into an almost mystical world ? through its light and the colours it offers through the diversity of its nature. The scents that you have with the cuisine and spices reinforce this intense sense of unfamiliarity. Here, the expression, gazes and traditional clothing awakens feelings that give us another view of the world. All of this makes Asia a unique place. I found it to be inspirational. It was there that for me, photography recovers its special character: it immortalises the emotions it provokes to then share them again and again, infinitely.?
