"I'm interested in capturing those small but striking details that catch my attention as I walk through the city. It could be a flash of colour from a piece of hanging laundry, or a mop on a rusty, peeling door."

About the Artist

ELEANOR MCCOLL
For her tenth birthday, Eleanor McColl was given a toy camera. Even now, it is impossible for her to forget this gift, since it changed the course of her life. She was totally rapt with her little camera and captured all the subjects that drew her budding artist’s eye. Later, she studied fine arts at the University of Bristol and, unsurprisingly, specialised in photography. There, she discovered an interest in combining disciplines and soon stood out for her vibrant photomontages, influenced by her favourite artist: David Hockney. In 1999, she left England and flew to Hong Kong. She pursued her artistic career there, focusing on the urban environments that she depicts through her imaginative photomontages, which are always made by hand. Passionate about mixtures of textures and colours, she offers her audience a new way of seeing the world.
