About the artwork

Since his favourite field is landscape photography, Daniel Metz never tires of travelling to reveal all of the depths of an ever-changing China. The French photographer establishes the themes that he holds dear and ensures that all of the conditions to achieve perfection are in place. On a recent trip to the region of Guangxi and particularly in the rural cities of Guilin and Yangshuo, Daniel Metz become passionate about the landscapes around the Li River, composed of impressive mountainous formations. The entire region is made up of hundreds of small limestone peaks that erupt dramatically from the ground to form an incredible, jagged landscape. Based on his background as a theorist of colour, the subject of many publications, he makes it a point of honour to showcase this aspect as an essential element of imagery. In his work, the colour contrasts and lighting reveal forms and accentuate the beauty and authenticity of the panoramas he explores.
