About the artwork

Born in Nice, Joseph Aieta is a self-taught art photographer. Through his creations, he invites the spectator to embark on a dreamlike photographic journey. In 2017, he travelled to one of the legendary sites that has inspired so many masters of traditional Chinese painting, the Huang Mountains in China, and created the series MISTS OF HUANGSHAN. With his traditional camera in hand and using a film with pronounced grain, he highlights the poetry of the mountain range.

The artist

Joseph Aieta is a French art photographer from Nice. Self-taught, he has practised photography since childhood. He draws his influences from the greatest masters of his field (including Man Ray, Sarah Moo, and Daido Moriyama) but also from his travels. Never standing still and never without his camera, he aims to heighten day-to-day life. Every day, he sees the world anew, constantly on the lookout for moments of beauty and poetry. Far from seeking technical perfection, the artist favours emotions. At the heart of his creative process, emotions thus influence the image processing – black and white or colour – as well as his choice of camera or accessories. Traditional film, instant film, digital, or pinhole camera, the Nice-based artist selects the most appropriate camera for the desired result. The beauty of textures and materials emanate from his images, offering the public a photographic journey along the byways of dreams.  ... See more See less
