MORE INFORMATION ABOUT DELIVERY

The artist

Born in Budapest to a French mother and Hungarian father, Pol Kurucz was a hyperactive child who found a means of channelling his energy through theatre. He did not, however, neglect his studies or professional future. At the age of 27, he was still just as hyperactive, but became an industrial executive by day and theatre director by night. Through his extensive travel, particularly to Brazil, and his many projects, his artistic career gradually gained the upper hand and he started taking photos in 1995. In 2011, he founded Kolors in Budapest, a nonconformist and feminist art collective. He moved to Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2016 and launched a version of the collective there with local stakeholders. Heavily influenced by artists like Magritte or Jodorowsky and American and Japanese pop culture alike, Kolors is now focused on eccentricity in fashion and celebrity, and is fully committed to feminism, the defence of minorities, or the denunciation of consumerism. Photos by Pol Kurucz are now published in major magazines (Vogue, ELLE, Dazed, GQ, etc.) and at photo exhibitions photos (ArtExpo NYC) or fashion weeks (Shanghai and New York).  ... About the artwork

French-Hungarian artist Pol Kurucz created the nonconformist art collective Kolors in Budapest before exporting it to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he now lives. Through an aesthetic heavily influenced by pop culture, his photos are always anchored in reality and particularly feminism or the defence of minorities. “The saturated colours and provocation of my photos are a tool for me to alert and call into question the prevailing social norms in terms of race, gender, or aesthetics,” he explains.
