To the Threshold of Silence II

Polish photographer Michal Karcz considers his art to be a means of escaping daily life by attempting to attain the height of tranquillity. Inspired in particular by the brooding and melodic music of Steve Roach, his ambient electronic sounds, similar to new age music, helps him to perceive distant imaginary worlds. His photographs represent vast mountainous spaces traversed by atmospheric lights, which encourage a sense of calm bliss for the viewer. While these images are composed using real landscapes, captured in the Polish mountain ranges of Tatras or Bieszczady, but also in the Canary Islands, the artist enjoys combining them in post-production, reappropriating reality.
