DARK ANGELAbout this photograph
Every black-and-white shot by photographer Sime Eskinja is a nude and the staging accompanying them is extremely sophisticated. His mentor, the nonconformist artist Helmut Newton, initiator of what has been called "porno chic" in photography affirmed that "Nothing is more revealing than nudity, even when it's dressed." Through a savvy combination of sensuality and seduction, this affirmation applies perfectly to the unique work of this brilliant Croatian photographer who has had countless collaborations with fashion brands and specialised magazines. Through exclusive use of black and white, using perfectly mastered natural light, his photographs reveal the beauty of the models that abandon themselves before his lens. He loves photographing women of exceptional charisma, and, despite the occasionally provocative character of his work, he supports a symbol: that of women?s freedom.Read more Read less

Living between Paris and Zagreb, Sime Eskinja is a photographer born in 1979 in Saint Philip and Jakob, a magnificent little village bordering the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. At just 14 years of age, the talented young man took classes in applied arts and tried his hand at painting to develop his unbridled imagination. This first artistic experience inspired him to continue tertiary study at architecture school where he obtained a prestigious degree in industrial design. His discovery of photography occurred at the same time, at the age of 23, when he was working as a model. He therefore later passed to the other side of the camera to take his own shots. Sime Eskinja has since participated in many exhibitions in Zadar and Zagreb in Croatia, as well as in London. His sensual black-and-white photographs have been published in fashion magazines and he has participated in major advertising campaigns, collaborating with the lion?s share of agencies in his country.
