The artist

Now a legend, Fred Goudon was one of the photographers of the steamy Dieux du Stade [Stadium Gods], a series of annual calendars featuring erotic and artistic photos of the players of the Stade Français first XV rugby team. The artist focuses his work on the male physique. His convincing compositions and expertise in the treatment of light create a familiar atmosphere and transform his models into Greek gods. Born in Cannes, Fred Goudon studied journalism and launched his career as a press photographer. He travelled to Los Angeles as a correspondent for French newspapers in the late 1980s and found his vocation there in fashion photography. He subsequently worked for modelling agencies and prestigious brands, publishing many works, including Dieux du Stade in 2006, 2014, 2015, and 2016 but also the Calendrier des Pompiers [Firefighters' Calendar] in 2016 and 2017 as well as that of Agriculteurs [Farmers] in 2017.  ... About the artwork

Fred Goudon has nothing more to prove, excelling in nudes and in his ability to flaunt masculine beauty. For over 20 years now, he has offered a mixture of light-heartedness, cheek, and sublimation of the male body with each of his images, from the most modest snapshot to the most elaborate of compositions. The artist wants to give his models a sensitive, gentle allure, without ever falling into vulgarity or eroticism. He believes men can also pose as pin-ups, so long as they're shot from the right angle and the model's desires are respected to preserve a sense of privacy (criteria that female pin-ups might not enjoy). Two , in black and white, was produced in Paris in 2012 and stages the perfection of the sculpted bodies without revealing their faces and therefore their identities.
