An architect by trade, Yener Torun gleans his inspiration as a photographer from the lines, colourful designs and symmetrical layouts of urban landscapes. Born in Turhal in 1982, he studied at Istanbul Technical University and worked as an architect for over a decade. During the same period, he criss-crossed the streets of the fascinating Turkish cultural capital, in search of subjects to photograph. His interest in the medium encouraged him in 2013 to use Instagram, an online platform for sharing photographs that is venerated by promising young talents. So Yener Torun published his first colourful, minimalist and original shots there, which soon made him one of the most influential artists of his generation. Today, he mainly devotes himself to his practice, learning photography techniques and now exploring Turkey as a whole: Ankara, Bursa, Izmir and Kocaeli, are among the cities that will very soon by the subject of a publication.
