SUMMER WITH THE WHEELERS
Welcome to the sun-drenched world of Nik and Kerry Wheeler, an invitation to travel, elegance and carefree living. From Mediterranean shores to Californian roads, from light-filled pontoons to Riviera hotels, their photographs tell the story of a summer that seems to last forever.
Through leisure scenes, iconic landscapes and moments of everyday life captured from the 1960s to the present day, Summer with the Wheelers brings two eras and two perspectives into dialogue. It evokes the charm of a bygone world, the gentle pace of holidays, effortless glamour and the familiar feeling of a memory one wishes one had experienced.
Nik and Kerry Wheeler
A photojournalist and travel photographer, Nik Wheeler has explored more than one hundred countries since the 1960s. Before photographing beaches, luxury hotels and elegant scenes of high society, he covered some of the major events of the second half of the twentieth century, from Vietnam to the Middle East. His perspective was shaped through close encounters with history, cultures and landscapes. Spanning several decades of travel, his archives now reveal a world that is documentary, nostalgic and deeply alluring.
Kerry Wheeler grew up surrounded by these stories and images. After beginning his career in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, he also turned to photography. While his father bears witness to reality, Kerry creates visual fictions with a cinematic quality. His works celebrate beauty, freedom and the art of living through luminous, carefully composed scenes that evoke an endless holiday.
United within Wheeler Collective, their two creative worlds tell the story of a perspective passed down from one generation to the next: that of a father who documented the world and a son who transforms it into a dream.
Summer with the Wheelers
The works in Summer with the Wheelers create a light-filled world, where the sea, the roads and holiday destinations become the settings of an ideal summer. They evoke a suspended moment in time, shaped by freedom, elegance and carefree living.
Between archives and contemporary staging, the collection creates a dialogue between memory and fiction. Nik Wheeler captures the charm of eras steeped in nostalgia, while Kerry Wheeler composes cinematic scenes conceived as fragments of stories.
Vintage cars, figures by the water, boats and Mediterranean architecture become symbols of a true art of living. Each photograph invites the viewer to imagine what came before or what extends beyond the captured moment.
The Wheelers thus offer an intimate and universal vision of summer, transformed into a state of mind where escape and the sweetness of life seem to last indefinitely.
