About the artwork

Bernhard Hartmann manages to captivate our gaze by dedicating an unusual photographic series to New York. With a great sense of aesthetics and balance, he associates the most significant architecture with the colours and lights of the urban landscape to present authentic and highly contrasted points of view. He thus invites us on a journey, allowing us to surround ourselves with the architecture of the city that never sleeps! The old train station that was destroyed during the attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 has now been replaced by a futuristic station that is the work of the illustrious Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. An architectural feat, the new complex located in Lower Manhattan won the "Design of the Year" award upon its inauguration in 2016. The combination of natural lighting and the sculptural form of the station offer the city of New York a highly original new public space to enjoy.
