About the artwork

Laurent Dequick moves away from the traditional representation that we have of the landscapes around us, presenting a highly poetic vision that borrows from the Cubist movement. Inspired by the contemporary city, he is aware of its slightest fluctuations and it is on his numerous escapades around the world that he captures many of the sites that have been the undisputed witnesses of history and of the radiating influence of the countries he travels through. He has always been passionate about combining techniques and his work is the fruit of an inseparable encounter between photography and painting. This nocturnal photograph is taken from his series about the beauty of Parisian landscapes. Laurent Dequick captures the Pompidou Center, affectionately known as ?Beaubourg? and created by the famous architects Renzo Piano, Gianfranco Franchin, and Richard Rogers. Although it was widely criticised at its inauguration in 1977, 40 years later, it is now considered one of the most emblematic monuments of the French capital.
