“The blondness of the women symbolises their marginalisation, with a combination of sophistication and a kind of lost innocence.”

PHAEDRA BRODY

About the artwork

The face of he forlorn and melancholic character is redundant in Phaedra Brody?s work. Inward looking, she seems vacant. This artist?s feminine figure is a Hitchcock blonde. With an icy beauty, she is unapproachable and trivial, as well as sacred and savage. If not sensual, her sexual dimension is suggested and associated with dangerousness. The lack of explanation, of perfect coherence doesn?t matter. The photograph exists by itself or gives the spectator the opportunity to become the narrator of a story which resembles them.
