The artist

Jörg Dickmann was born in 1973 in Sauerland, Germany. He started taking photos as a child, his father always had his SLR camera with him, photography has therefore always been a part of his life. In the beginning he only took holiday snapshots, just for the fun of it, with no serious ambition. This changed when the possibilities of digital processing revolutionized photography. When he bought his first DSLR, he began to experiment. There was a huge improvement in the quality of his work and he began to take photography more and more seriously and professionally. After publishing his work on the web, he received a huge amount of positive feedback from professional photographers. His photos were published in several German magazines: Foto Praxis, Focus, ELLE City, Which motivated him to find his own photographic style. His work focuses mainly on urbanism, architecture and nightscapes. Jörg has always been self-taught and wants to show his own view of the world. He doesn't want to copy reality, he wants to create his own  ... See more See less

About the artwork

Starting out in Dusseldorf, Jorg Dickmann was initially interested in the work of influential artists, particularly the objectivist movement initiated by the photographer couple Bernd and Hilla Becher. They captured the German industrial heritage in an extremely rigorous manner: neutral lighting, centring of the subject, and a frontal view. Passionate about urban landscape, Jorg Dickmann discovers the world in all of its nooks and crannies, but above all, he loves to photograph Germany, his native country. Here, he stops in at the Konigssee, an alpine lake in the southeast of Bavaria. Rectangular-shaped, it is located at the foot of the Watzmann Ranges, like a fjord surrounded by the high mountains of the Berchtesgaden Alps. This lake is a wonderful natural treasure and has an incredible palette of colours that Jorg Dickmann manages to capture through the prism of his lens.
