About the artwork

Attracted by the great virgin spaces and the most well preserved regions of the world, photographer Nolwenn Hadet fell under the spell of the Arctic several years ago. She brings a sensitive and poetic gaze to bear on this environment and the animals that live there. While producing such images is extremely dangerous, her pictures are full of gentle serenity, revealing a sublime world to us. Preparing her expeditions sometimes two years in advance, the photographer must be accompanied by a guide in order to approach the bears as closely as possible and in the safest conditions. It is also important to take into account the desirable periods for viewing them, in summer in Spitsbergen, between September and October in the north of Alaska, and in February in order to spot the cubs as they leave their den. Nolwenn Hadet offers us her tender and playful view of polar bears, the primary victims of the melting of the ice due to climate change and thus a species facing a very real threat of extinction.
