About the Artist
Dani WIECZOREKDani Wieczorek is a Brazilian photographer and multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Her photographic practice emerged four years ago, after sixteen years working as a producer in advertising, film, and branding for clients such as Netflix, A24, Sony, and Victoria’s Secret. This change in direction was no accident. Born with a physical difference affecting her limbs, she turned to photography to create a space for bodies that commercial imagery erases or ignores. Her series *I Am a Piece of Art* and *Livre Leve Solta* celebrate self-love and the presence of the female body as an act of resistance. At the same time, she leads *Rocinha Resiste*, a documentary project about Black women and community leaders in Rio de Janeiro. She is also the executive producer of *PRESENTE!*, a documentary supported by Sundance and WIF about Brazilian women in politics. Her work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Venice, London, Paris, Barcelona, and Korea. What is Dani Wieczorek fundamentally seeking to achieve? To make visible what is kept at the margins, and to create spaces where bodies like hers can exist fully.
